Swiss mushroom production increasing, seeing rising production costs

Swiss mushroom production is increasing again, compared with 2020. For Swiss mushrooms, the increase is 6%, with a market share of 65%. Swiss noble mushrooms were able to record a growth of 12%. King trumpet mushrooms continue to be the number one among the noble mushrooms. The 156 tons in 2020 increased to 192 tons in 2021.

In second place we find the shiitake, which generated a growth of 28% compared to the previous year. As before, producers are facing major challenges due to the sharp rise in costs. Swiss mushroom production is not excluded from the cost increases presented in the economy. This affects both production and investment costs across the board. In some cases, price increases could be transferred to the buyers.
